The experience
The experience

The vintages of decision.

3 days. 2 nights. 10 decision-makers. The decisions that shaped your path, revisited through wine.

Every leader has their vintages: those years when one decision changed everything. For three days, Satkāra Society brings together a small circle of decision-makers to revisit their own vintages — and prepare the ones they have yet to write.

The spirit of the experience

Wine as a mirror. Wine will be our common thread. Vines planted for the decades to come, a 1,100-hectare estate turned fully organic: at Il Borro, every decision was made to outlast the person who made it.

The stay unfolds in three acts. Roots: what built us. Patience: what we cultivate. Legacy: what we leave behind. Conversations take place between the cellar, the table and the village, because here wine never speaks only of wine: it speaks of the person holding the glass.

4 dimensions for deciding over time
01 — ROOTS

Knowing where you come from. A place inhabited for a thousand years, a terroir studied before a single vine was planted: great decisions are anchored in what you know intimately. Nothing lasting is built on ground you haven’t read.

02 — PATIENCE

Planting for later. Vines planted in 1995 for wines that would take years: patience is not waiting, it is an investment. What you give up today makes tomorrow’s great vintage.

03 — BOLDNESS

Daring the long bet. Buying a ruin in 1993, converting an entire estate to organic farming: the decisions that matter often look unreasonable at the moment they are made. Boldness is accepting that you won’t see the result straight away.

04 — LEGACY

Deciding for those who follow. Reviving a village, passing on land, leaving a signature: a long-term decision is measured by what it makes possible after you. Which vintage do you want to leave behind?

Who is it for?

For those building a brand, a house or a company meant to last. A deliberately small circle — 10 participants — of executives, entrepreneurs, investors, creators and figures from the luxury world, sharing the same curiosity. First edition, by application.

The Satkāra spirit

Beyond the setting, this immersion carries the Satkāra spirit: time for encounters, the pleasure of slowing down and a taste for things done well. You share a glass before sharing a table, and leave richer for everything you have learned — from others, from the place and from yourself.

The programme

The key moments of your stay

Three days and two nights at Il Borro, from 1 to 3 October 2027, in three acts: roots, patience, legacy.

Day 1

Act I · Roots

Afternoon — arrival and settling in at Il Borro, then a walk through the hamlet: from the medieval fortress to the 1993 gamble.
Evening — welcome aperitivo and the first “Tell me your vintage” session: each guest recounts the year of a decision that mattered, around the wine chosen for it. Dinner at the Tuscan Bistro.

Day 2

Act II · Patience

Morning — in the vineyards and the cellar with the estate teams: the 1995 plantings, the organic choice, what you give up today to harvest tomorrow. Optional, depending on the season: grape harvest or a workshop with the village artisans.
Afternoon — lunch at Pomario, then a blind tasting workshop led by our special guest, “Judging without the label”: deciding without prestige or bias. Visit of the vaulted cellar and the Wine Art Gallery.
Evening — dinner at the Osteria del Borro.

Day 3

Act III · Legacy

Morning — breakfast, then the closing circle, “The vintage I haven’t written yet”: each guest names the long-term decision they want to make within the year. A bottle is set aside for the circle, to be opened together a year from now.
Afternoon — private departures.

Practical information

Preparing your journey.

Optional activities, sessions dedicated to our theme and useful information to prepare your stay with peace of mind.

Explore & marvel

  • Wine — Visit of the organic farm and the cellar, tasting of the great vintages and, depending on the season, a morning of grape harvesting.
  • Artisans — Access to the village workshops: bootmaker, goldsmith, ceramicist, to watch an object take shape in the hands of its maker.
  • Wellbeing — La Corte Spa, panoramic pools, horse riding or e-biking across the estate.
  • Nature — Hiking in the Valdarno hills, truffle hunting in season.
  • Tuscan art of living — Cooking classes, a visit to the organic vegetable garden, dining at the Osteria del Borro and the Tuscan Bistro.

Sessions dedicated to our business theme

Beyond the cellar, three moments of the stay are devoted to our conversations, led by our guest: “Tell me your vintage”, the blind tasting and the closing circle. A few weeks before departure, we will ask you for one thing only: the year of a decision that mattered to you. The group is deliberately small — 10 participants — so that everyone has time to tell their story.

A trilingual stay

The immersion is lived in French, English and Italian. The Il Borro teams welcome you in all three languages, and the Satkāra team keeps everything connected at every step, so you have nothing to worry about.

The climate

In early October, Tuscany moves into its golden autumn: mild, luminous days, harvest in the vineyards, cooler evenings on the terraces. A shower is still possible at this time of year. Pack light clothing, a sweater for dinners and comfortable shoes for the vineyards and the village’s cobbled lanes.

Formalities

Italy is part of the Schengen Area. For EU and Swiss nationals, a valid national identity card or passport is sufficient. Other nationalities should check their entry requirements with the Italian consulate before booking.

Cancellation insurance is mandatory; it is not included in the stay. We recommend cover that also includes repatriation.

Your journey to Tuscany

Florence airport (about an hour’s drive) and Pisa (about an hour and a half) are the most direct gateways to the Valdarno; Rome Fiumicino is also reachable by train to Arezzo. We can arrange your flights according to your preferences, as well as your private transfer to Il Borro; this transfer is quoted separately. Prefer to travel under your own arrangements? Let us know and we will coordinate your arrival times with the programme.

Il Borro, a thousand-year-old Tuscan village turned exceptional estate

Il Borro

More than a hotel: a village

A village saved by a family

A fortress since the 12th century and the property of the Dukes of Savoy-Aosta in the last century, the hamlet was taken over in 1993 by Ferruccio Ferragamo. Restored stone by stone, it is run today by his children: Salvatore for wine and hospitality, Vittoria for the organic vegetable garden.

A fully organic estate

Vines, olive groves, vegetable garden and woodland: an estate farmed organically in the Valdarno hills, between Florence and Arezzo. Forty suites and rooms in the medieval village, twenty more at the Aie del Borro, and historic villas.

A setting like no other

The village’s cobbled lanes, the artisans’ workshops on their ground floors, the main square and the estate’s Wine Art Gallery: scenes you will find nowhere else.

A cellar and twelve labels

Eighty-five hectares of vines between 300 and 500 metres of altitude, certified organic since 2015, and twelve wines: the Il Borro cellar tells thirty years of demanding choices.

Where the exceptional is cultivated

From the Osteria del Borro to the village workshops, everything here speaks of a family and a terroir. These are the walls you will be staying in.

The spirit of a village

Your 5-star suite in the heart of the village

You will stay in one of the suites of the medieval village, restored stone by stone. Original wooden beams, Tuscan fireplaces, terracotta or parquet floors, marble or travertine bathrooms; depending on the suite, a private garden or terrace opens onto the countryside.

Below your windows, the cobbled lanes, the artisans’ shops and the village square. The elegance of a family home, with the comfort of a Relais & Châteaux.

Privileged access

The Wine Art Gallery, wine as a collection

Salvatore Ferragamo, grandson of the founder of the house, has made it his pride: a vast vaulted cellar where the estate’s wines rest, extended by the Wine Art Gallery and its collection of works devoted to wine.

Here, wine reads like a house strategy: signature cuvées, a deliberate rarity, a story that gives the bottle its value. That is precisely our subject — and that is what we will talk about, in a small circle, hosted by the estate, glass in hand.

Two tables, one signature

From Tuscan bistro to fine dining

Here you don’t choose a restaurant: you choose a mood. The Osteria del Borro for chef Andrea Campani’s fine dining, fed by the estate’s organic vegetable garden. The Tuscan Bistro for traditional cooking, simple and true. And the VinCafè for a glass of Il Borro, late in the evening, in the heart of the village.

Special guest

Your guide, soon to be revealed

For this immersion, Satkāra welcomes an exceptional guest: a recognised voice of Italian wine, who tells the story of estates through the people who make them and the people who drink them. At Il Borro, he will be your coach and specialist guide throughout the stay — the link between a passion for wine and the decisions that shape a leader’s life.

His name will be revealed very soon.

Frequently asked questions

Ce qu’il faut savoir avant de rejoindre cette première édition : le niveau de jeu, ce que le prix comprend, et comment on y accède.

  • Do I need to know about wine?

No. Wine is our common thread, not an exam. Tastings take place in a small group, guided by our guest and the estate teams, and everyone enjoys them at their own level. Newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts share the same table: that is precisely what makes the conversation interesting.

  • Do I need to prepare anything?
